We are always happy to help our animal shelter residents find a new family. If you are considering adopting a pet and would like to learn more about the adoptable animals housed at the Charlotte County Animal Control Shelter, please contact the Animal Control Officer at the number provided below. Animals are also available for adoption locally at the Southside SPCA in Meherrin and at Lake Country SPCA in Clarksville.
In accordance with Charlotte County's Animal Control Ordinance, all dogs four months old and older must be licensed annually. Dog licenses go on sale November 1st and must be purchased no later than January 31st. Failure to comply with this ordinance is subject to enforcement by the Animal Control Officer. In order to obtain a license, a current rabies vaccination certificate must be provided. Dog licenses can be purchased at the Treasurer's Office located at 201 David Bruce Avenue in Charlotte Court House.
