ASSISTANT COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY POSITION AVAILABLE  

The Charlotte County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office is seeking a full-time Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney.  Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school, currently licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.  Applicant must be able to maintain the highest ethical standards and pass a criminal background check.  Applicant should possess strong computer and technology skills.  Prior trial experience is preferred.    

Duties will include prosecution of misdemeanor and felony cases in General District, Juvenile & Domestic Relations District and Circuit Courts, conducting legal research and drafting legal documents to include Appellate briefs, interviewing victims, lay and expert witnesses, receiving and viewing body worn camera footage, advising local law enforcement officers, and other duties.  

The position offers a starting salary of $56,000.00 and benefits to include participation in the Virginia Retirement System, health insurance coverage and other benefits.

PART-TIME COURT SECURITY POSITION

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for a Part-time Court Security position. 

Requirements are as follows:  
  1. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Must be in good physical condition.
  3. Must be skilled in computer operations.
  4. Must possess good writing and communication skills.
  5. Will be required to attend and complete a Training Course at the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy, Lynchburg, VA, which consists of written examinations, as well as, extensive physical and self-defense training.
  6. Must be 21 years of age.  

NOTE:   PRE-CERTIFIED APPLICANTS AND COUNTY RESIDENTS ARE PREFERRED.
